Newcastle United got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday.

Newcastle United, like all of the other teams in the battle for a top-five finish in the Premier League table, have little margin for error during what remains of the season.

The race for Champions League qualification is tight and matters were complicated last week after the Magpies lost to Aston Villa.

However, Newcastle beat Ipswich 3-0 on Saturday to reclaim third spot in the Premier League

The scoreline does not really flatter Eddie Howe’s side but they were frustrated in the opening exchanges before Alexander Isak scored a penalty in first-half stoppage time.

Dan Burn and William Osula scored in the second-half to wrap up an important win, after which Joelinton responded to a message from captain Bruno Guimaraes

Joelinton responds to Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle United vs Ipswich Town

Frustratingly, Joelinton missed Saturday’s game because of a knee injury.

The Brazilian is now due to see a specialist, which is a major worry for Newcastle heading into the final four games of the season.

Guimaraes, meanwhile, was as important as ever in the middle of the park, helping Newcastle carve a stubborn Ipswich open.

After the game, Guimaraes captioned a collage of photos from the game on Instagram: “Victory at work and victory in life! I couldn’t be more grateful to God!! Howay the lads.”

The injured Joelinton responded with three love hearts.

Joelinton injury update amid Newcastle United fears

The Newcastle United manager confirmed after the game that the midfielder was due to see a specialist after pulling up with a knee problem in training.

The severity of the injury is yet to have been determined but, given there are only weeks to go this season, it’s a major concern.

Howe has transformed Joelinton’s Newcastle career and will no doubt need him for the battles left to fight this season.

The idea of having to play what are effectively four cup finals without him is a big concern.

Joelinton’s fitness is of the utmost importance.
