Jason Tindall is ‘super proud’ of how well one Newcastle United star is doing right now

Newcastle United have so many players in brilliant form right now.

Jacob Murphy continues to go from strength to strength on the right of attack, following up his brace against Leicester City with an assist during Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Manchester United.

Elsewhere, Tino Livramento looks incredibly comfortable once again at left-back, while Sandro Tonali remains the heartbeat of the Magpies’ midfield.

There is so much to like about this Newcastle United team, with each player getting a moment to shine.

That is certainly the case for Harvey Barnes right now. The 27-year-old has started six games in a row and done extremely well, having endured a frustrating first half of the 2024/25 campaign.

Jason Tindall delighted for Harvey Barnes

Barnes has done so well since taking Anthony Gordon’s place on the left of attack. He played a key role in the Carabao Cup final win, while his brace against Man United means that Barnes has five goal contributions in his last four Premier League games.

The winger is probably in the best form of his Newcastle United career, and Toon assistant boss Jason Tindall has told the club’s official website that he is delighted for Barnes.

“He’s in excellent form at the minute,” he said.

“We all know that Harvey Barnes is a super player, a top player. Always good for a goal. Always has been during his Leicester times and since he’s been here at this football club.

“He’s had to be patient this year, certainly the first half of the season with Ant and the form he was in.

“Really pleased for Harvey. He’s come into the team and delivered a really good team performance since he’s been in the side. Super proud that he’s gone out and scored three goals this week.”

Barnes was ‘frustrated’ at Newcastle United earlier this season

This is an excellent period in a black and white shirt for Barnes.

The Man United win was Barnes’ best Newcastle performance ever, and it came at a time when Anthony Gordon had just returned to fitness.

There was pressure on Barnes to perform, and he delivered. On current form, it is Barnes who should be starting on the left of attack ahead of Gordon.

That will delight the former Leicester City star, who has spent the majority of the campaign acting as Gordon’s understudy. He has struggled for consistency, while it was reported that Barnes was ‘frustrated’ with his lack of minutes back in December.

It was even suggested that Newcastle could sell Barnes, but he has remained on Tyneside and is now proving what a valuable player he can be.
