Newcastle United star Jacob Murphy has been one of the success stories of the season.
Murphy has largely always had a vital role under Eddie Howe at Newcastle United but has really shone during a campaign in which the club have made history.
The 30-year-old has been one of the best wingers the Premier League has to offer this season. Only Mohamed Salah has created more assists (18 to 11), while it was Murphy who helped tee up Alexander Isak’s winning goal in the Carabao Cup final back in March.
As such, Murphy’s form has shocked football pundits, with the forward enjoying what is surely the best spell in his career.
Having scored three times while registering three assists in the month of April, the club officially confirmed Murphy was voted Sela Player of Month by supporters online.

During an interview with Newcastle United’s official website, an interesting statistic emerged to surprise even the player.
Upon collecting his award, Murphy was told he had moved into the top five in the Newcastle assist charts in Premier League history.
With 27, he’s now just behind former hero Laurent Robert (29). Rob Lee (31) and Alan Shearer (36) are just ahead of him, although Nolberto Solano is some way out in front with 54.
It was put to Murphy that he’d joined some genuine club legends in the list and the player stressed he was determined to chase them down in the list, with Robert surely next to fall down it.
“I wasn’t aware of that record but it’s very nice to hear I’m in such good company. I’m determined to get closer to the others now. It gives extra motivation to keep adding more assists and continue climbing up that chart,” he said.

While Murphy was born in Wembley, London and came through the ranks at Norwich, he’s certainly an adopted Geordie now.

Murphy supported Newcastle as a child and joined the club from the Canaries back in 2017 during Rafa Benitez’s time in charge.
The club may have made more glamorous players over the years – Robert being one – but even the Frenchman did not achieve what Murphy has on Tyneside.
Crucial to the Carabao Cup win earlier this season and a key reason why Howe’s side might reach the Champions League again, Murphy is a Newcastle United legend.
