Newcastle United face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and Julian Brandt knows what to expect from the St James’ Park crowd.

The Borussia Dortmund playmaker has been speaking about the Magpies ahead of this week’s game on Tyneside, as the Bundesliga giants look to pick up their first Champions League win of the season.

Newcastle got theirs earlier this month, beating Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 at St James’ Park. It was an incredible night, and one that some fans will argue is the greatest in the club’s history.

The atmosphere was absolutely insane throughout the night, with Wor Flags putting on an iconic display that has to go down as one of their best yet.

They will look to do even better when Borussia Dortmund arrive on Wednesday, as Newcastle aim to make it three games without defeat in the Champions League.

Our home form is going to be absolutely crucial, and we proved against PSG that the crowd can make such a difference. The Ligue 1 side could not handle the pressure.

Borussia Dortmund will look to avoid the same mistake, and Julian Brandt knows exactly what to expect after speaking to Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross.

Julian Brandt ready for the St James’ Park atmosphere against Newcastle

Ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League game at St James’ Park, Brandt spoke to Borussia Dortmund’s official website. He is expecting a great atmosphere.

“[I spoke with Pascal Groẞ] who has played against Newcastle in the Premier League several times,” he said.

“A very good atmosphere awaits us there. It’s different from Manchester City or Chelsea.”

Borussia Dortmund star aims slight dig at Newcastle’s Premier League rivals

Brandt knows what to expect from the Newcastle crowd. He has been tipped off by one of his Germany teammates, while he will have played in front of raucous crowds regularly in a Borussia Dortmund shirt.

However, it is interesting to see Brandt compare the Newcastle atmosphere to Manchester City’s and Chelsea’s. It sounds like he doesn’t think much of those clubs, and is expecting to experience something much different and louder at St James’ Park.

Hopefully it does not disappoint, and it certainly will be loud if Newcastle perform against Borussia Dortmund like they did against PSG.
