Nobby Solano has been blown away by what he’s seen from one Newcastle United player and he’s excited to see how he develops in the future.
Newcastle and exciting young academy prospects aren’t really two things that have been associated with each other in the last couple of decades under Mike Ashley.
Just two years under the new ownership and Newcastle already have a top talent in Lewis Miley who Solano claimed on talkSPORT is an amazing player and hopes he’ll stay with his boyhood club for the long-term after signing a new contract.
Solano claims Newcastle have a ‘great’ talent on their hands
Newcastle’s academy is something which really hasn’t gotten a lot of attention in recent years with players who have any kind of potential often getting snapped up by bigger teams.
It wasn’t too long ago that they parted ways with Bobby Clark, son of Lee Clark, who was meant to have huge potential and moved to Liverpool to try and fulfil it.
Clark was one of the last few players to leave Newcastle in fear that the club would neglect promising talent as it had done so often under Ashley, but this new ownership have placed a huge emphasis on improving that.
At just 17-years-old Miley is competing with some of the very best in the world and doing more than just hold his own. In fact, he has at times looked like Newcastle’s best midfielder, and Solano couldn’t be more excited by him committing his future to the club.
On the show, Solano said: “Wow, first of all it’s amazing for the club, it’s amazing for the city.
“I know how proud they will be at Newcastle. It’s nice to see a player with a Newcastle identity, it’s great for the club, great for the city.
“There’s so much passion around him, so I’m so pleased for him.
“He has a great future, I hope he can continue because it’s difficult in football to be consistent. So, the boy has a great opportunity to carry on and have a great career, I hope Newcastle can keep him for a long time.”

Miley has a seriously bright future at Newcastle
At the beginning of the season when he learned about Sandro Tonali’s suspension, Eddie Howe was desperate to bring in a new midfielder as they were seriously lacking in numbers with Joe Willock out injured.
However, it has been a bit of a blessing in disguise as Miley has emerged as this unbelievable talent because he’s been given so much extra game time which he wouldn’t’ have had if Tonali was available.
It doesn’t solve Howe’s problem entirely as he still would really like another midfielder in the group, but it does make things a bit easier for him especially with Joelinton now out for most of the season.
As Newcastle continue to grow as a club and hope to become one of Europe’s elite, Miley has the perfect opportunity to grow alongside it and if he continues his current development he could become a real icon at the club.
