Former Newcastle United transfer target Ismaila Sarr could be on the move when the transfer window opens.

The winger is currently embroiled in a relegation battle with Watford, who are 18th in the table. They’re currently three points behind Everton, and will still have belief that they can stay up.

But regardless, survival will seemingly not guarantee that Sarr remains at Vicarage Road.

The 24-year-old’s agent has recently spoke to Afrique Sports TV, and admitted that his client could change clubs this summer.

Thierno Seydi said: “The only evidence is that I think he has chances to leave regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season with Watford. That’s how it’s planned with those in charge.”

His words will worry Watford, but they could be of interest to Newcastle.

The Magpies were taken over in October last year. What followed was an incredible string of transfer rumours.

One name linked by the Daily Mail was Sarr. They stated that Newcastle’s new owners had identified the Hornets ace as one of their first transfers.

However, January came and went with no more speculation about Sarr. He was hit with an injury, then went to the AFCON with Senegal, helping his nation win the entire tournament.

With the summer transfer window on the horizon, it would be no surprise to see the Magpies reignite their interest in Sarr. It feels very likely considering the plethora of right-sided midfielders the club have been linked with. That is clearly a position Eddie Howe wants to improve.

Back in October, the Daily Mail stated a deal could be difficult with Watford keen to keep their star attraction.

However, given his agent’s comments, it looks like Sarr will be on the move this summer whether Watford stay in the Premier League or not.

Described as ‘frightening‘ by Ben Foster, Sarr would be very welcome at St James’ Park.
