The future is very promising for Newcastle United.
Already Carabao Cup winners and on course for a return to the Champions League, Newcastle United are in a healthy position right now.
Indeed, it’s going to be fascinating to see what lies ahead. After winning 20 of their last 26 games, Eddie Howe’s side are proving a force to be reckoned with. Capable of beating anyone on their day, it’s exciting to imagine what the club will be able to do with significant investment in the first-team.
Luckily, after a period in which they’ve struggled to sign players to any meaningful degree, Newcastle believe they spend on new signings this summer.
Expecting the team to lift silverware feels strange and slightly unfair at this stage in the club’s development but chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has vowed that Newcastle will win more trophies over the coming years.
Excitingly, club legend Alan Shearer mentioned Howe’s team in conjunction with next season’s Premier League title race.

Alan Shearer sends Newcastle message immediately after Liverpool win title
On the latest episode of ‘The Rest Is Football’, Shearer was reflecting on Liverpool’s title win, which was confirmed on Sunday when Arne Slot’s side beat Tottenham.
While not to take away the obviously hugely impressive achievement of winning a Premier League title, much has been made about the lack of a compelling challenger.
Clearly, that’s not exactly Liverpool’s fault and they have been excellent, losing only twice all season.

Still, the Newcastle United legend does not think they’ll have such a clear run at the top prize in English football next season and even namechecked the Toon as a potential challenger.
“I’d be amazed if they were to win it as easily as they have this year, next year,” he said.
“I don’t see that happening at all. I think there are so many teams that are waiting to improve.
“Arsenal being one, [Manchester] City being another. Newcastle being another, Villa being another.”
PSR problems blocked Newcastle United’s Premier League title bid
Newcastle (62) are some way off Liverpool’s current points haul of 82, so to suggest they would be truly challenging if they had made a few more signings feels a bit of a reach.
Still, there’s a theory that PSR restrictions have stopped Newcastle from being able to win the Premier League.
That’s not to say the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules are the only reason of course but they have certainly not helped.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 34 | 25 | 7 | 2 | 80 | 32 | 48 | 82 | |
| 2 | 34 | 18 | 13 | 3 | 63 | 29 | 34 | 67 | |
| 3 | 34 | 19 | 5 | 10 | 65 | 44 | 21 | 62 | |
| 4 | 34 | 18 | 7 | 9 | 66 | 43 | 23 | 61 |
More money to spend means more signings and a deeper squad.
It stands to reason that had Howe been able to bring in more players, his team – currently third in the Premier League table – would be closer to winning the ultimate prize.
