Immense demand for Newcastle tickets continues as memberships go on sale

The demand for a ticket to watch Newcastle United play next season is astonishing.

The club released an additional 1,000 season tickets earlier in the week, following an ‘unprecedented’ level of renewals from existing ticket holders.

Those seats were snapped up incredibly quickly, with thousands of supporters missing out. At one point there were around 30,000 people in the online queue for tickets.

There was expected to be huge demand, and that proved to be the case.

The remaining tickets for home matches will be sold on a game-by-game basis, and fans have been given a chance to gain an advantage at securing a seat.

As part of the club’s season ticket announcement earlier in the month, they also confirmed that memberships would be available for supporters.

Newcastle United memberships go on sale

They went on sale this morning, with thousands of fans once again queueing to buy one.

A membership will give supporters an advantage at getting tickets for home games, getting the opportunity to buy a ticket before they go on general sale. There are also other perks, but a shot at getting a match ticket is what fans are interested in the most.

Each membership gives you the opportunity to buy one ticket. Season ticket holders will also have the chance to get one additional ticket, as they are automatically enrolled as members.

Despite there being no limit on memberships available, supporters have been queueing up online to secure theirs.

Around 40,000 fans have been trying to purchase a membership, which is almost enough to fill St James’ Park.

At 1:37pm, I joined the online queue and was given a number of 40,541. That’s how many people had queued up at that time to buy a membership.

It shows the incredible demands for tickets at St James’ Park. It will also increase calls for the stadium to be expanded. The club simply don’t have anywhere near enough seats to satisfy the demand.

Fans are desperate to go to the ground and support the team following the change of ownership. They are revitalised by the direction the club is going in.

It was a fight for fans to get a season ticket, with only a limited number available. It will be a similar situation when seats become available for each and every home game.

The first is on August 6th against Nottingham Forest, and I think it’s fair to assume that it will be a sellout.
