Newcastle United take on West Ham United in the Premier League just six days before the Carabao Cup final.

It’s been a dreadful few weeks of preparation for the Carabao Cup final for Newcastle United and there is a worry things could get worse.

Eddie Howe knows he will be without at least three of his most-crucial players for the trip to Wembley to face Liverpool, and question marks remain over two more.

Everyone at Newcastle will be keeping everything crossed that they emerge through their match against West Ham unscathed, while Liverpool still have two more games before the final.

Here is everything you need to know about the fixture.

West Ham vs Newcastle United team news

Anthony Gordon’s three-game suspension, which will also see him miss the Carabao Cup final, begins on Monday so is unavailable.

As is Sven Botman, whose season is now over after he suffered yet another knee injury just as he was nearing a return to the team.

In some good news, Alexander Isak trained on Wednesday despite leaving the field due to ‘tightness’ against Brighton but it remains to be seen if he or Kieran Trippier will be risked.

West Ham, meanwhile, are without Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fulkrug, Michail Antonio while Lucas Paqueta and Vladimir Coufal are highly doubtful.

Predictions

Newcastle’s form has been poor in recent weeks and, however much they may deny it, minds will naturally be drifting towards the final rather than this match.

It also remains to be seen just how strong a side Howe will name for the game, as it would be a humungous risk to play the likes of Isak or Trippier.

West Ham, meanwhile, are enjoying a slight up-turn in form under Gareth Potter and have won their last two games against Arsenal and Leicester City.

It wouldn’t be surprising if they edged out a victory over the Toon.

Prediction: West Ham 1-0 Newcastle United.
