Newcastle United desperately need Alexander Isak to be fit for the Carabao Cup final.
There were fears when Alexander Isak missed the Magpies’ recent Premier League clash with Liverpool. His unavailability came as a surprise, with Eddie Howe confirming that Isak had a groin issue.
Afterwards, it was reported that Isak would be fit for the Carabao Cup final, and he subsequently started the FA Cup clash with Brighton.
But he did not finish it, with the 25-year-old being substituted in the 86th minute. After the game, Howe said he had taken Isak off because of tiredness rather than injury.
However, there has since been panic from fans that Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever could miss the cup final, with baseless rumours running wild on social media.

Encouraging Alexander Isak update ahead of Carabao Cup final
While Newcastle United supporters would love official confirmation from Howe that Isak is alright, there has been an encouraging development on Wednesday.
Sky Sports journalist Natalie Gerda has posted images from the Newcastle United training ground on her Instagram story, conducting interviews with players ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
One of those players is Alexander Isak. He is even wearing his training gear, which hopefully implies that he has been working alongside his teammates ahead of Monday night’s game against West Ham United.

The i Paper’s Mark Douglas has commented on the image of Isak, posting on X: “FWIW, Alexander Isak was doing TV interviews to preview the Carabao Cup final this afternoon… Don’t think he’d be doing that if he was out of the game!”
Who could join Alexander Isak in attack for Newcastle
Hopefully Isak is fit to start against Liverpool, with Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall now ruled out.
Both absences are a blow, with Gordon’s suspension meaning that Howe will need to alter his forward line.
If the Newcastle United manager opts to stick with his 4-3-3 formation, there are two options to replace Gordon and join Isak and Jacob Murphy in attack.
Harvey Barnes would be a like-for-like replacement, while Howe could aim to make Newcastle more solid by deploying Joelinton out wide and allowing Joe Willock to start in midfield.
Out of those two options, Joelinton feels like the most likely replacement for Gordon on the left wing.
