Newcastle United will be hoping to end 2024 in style when they take on Manchester United on Monday night.
It’s been a fantastic December for Newcastle United after winning their last four matches by an aggregate score of 14-1 and making it to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
Finishing off the year with a victory over old foes Manchester United would be the perfect way to bring in a promising-looking 2025.
Eddie Howe may never have a better chance to end the club’s 11-year wait for a victory at Old Trafford, too, with United’s dismal form continuing under new manager Ruben Amorim.
United have lost five of their last seven games including defeats to Wolves, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, while Newcastle couldn’t be in much better form.
Here is everything you need to know about the fixture.

Manchester United vs Newcastle United team news
Newcastle should be boosted by the return of Tino Livramento after his bout of illness over Christmas, which is handy given Kieran Trippier hobbled off the field after starting in his place against Aston Villa.
It’s not yet clear if the veteran right-back will be fit to remain in the squad but Howe will continue to be without Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, Nick Pope and Emil Krafth.
Sven Botman is nearing a return to first-team action but a new year comeback is now looking more likely.
United, meanwhile, are without the suspended midfield duo of captain Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte. Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw are also all injured.

Prediction
Given the vastly differing fortunes of the two teams at present, Newcastle should go into this match with no fear despite their terrible decade of results at Old Trafford.
United are a shambles at present as the players struggle to adapt to Amorim’s system, which should leave a defence primed to be torn to shreds by Newcastle’s in-form forwards.
As long as Newcastle play the game and not the occasion and start on the front foot once again, they could pick up a memorable victory.
Prediction: Manchester United 0-3 Newcastle United.
