Jacob Murphy is also having a great spell of form with three goals and four assists in his last four games including an assist against Villa.
Fans and pundits alike believe a tactical change which sees Sandro Tonali play a deeper midfield role is a catalyst for their good form.
Now Ruben Amorim has had his say on Newcastle ahead of the two teams’ last matches of 2024.

Ruben Amorim says Manchester United must fight against Newcastle
Manchester United are having a torrid time after sacking Erik ten Hag and appointing Amorim as head coach.
Since Amorim’s appointment, the Red Devils have won just two Premier League games, losing four and are out of the EFL Cup.
To compile the misery, Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are suspended for the game.
In his pre-match press conference, which was aired on Man United’s website. Amorim was asked about Newcastle and the challenge he is expecting.
“We have to fight against everything, because our supporters are always there,” Amorim said.
“But they are tired of this moment. We have to expect that any play from Newcastle near our box is going to make the stadium nervous and our players have to cope with that.
“(Newcastle) is a very strong team, very fast, with a lot of pace and a lot of time with the same coach. We want to be competitive and try to win the game. That is all.”
While Newcastle are in fine form, Man United lost their previous two Premier League games against Bournemouth and most recently Wolves.
Newcastle looking to end Old Trafford winless streak
The Magpies will be keen to keep their good run of form running but Old Trafford has historically been a difficult place to go for them.
Newcastle haven’t won a league game at Old Trafford since 2013 when David Moyes was Red Devils boss but can take confidence from their 3-0 win against Man United in the Carabao Cup last season. In fact, before 2013, Newcastle hadn’t won at Old Trafford since 1972.
Fans will be happy to see that in recent times Newcastle’s record against Man United has improved with the Magpies losing just two of the seven games played with Howe at the helm.
Before the defeat at Old Trafford last season Newcastle had won three games on the spin in all competitions.
