It means Eddie Howe’s side sit fifth in the Premier League table and make the journey to Old Trafford as heavy favourites.
Not only are Newcastle playing well, winning their last four games while scoring 14 goals and conceding just one in the process, the Red Devils are in pretty pitiful form.
The Manchester giants may not be what they were but any win at the Theatre of Dreams would be a rather large scalp.
Clearly, that’s easier said than done. Newcastle still need to be at their best and not pay much attention to the crisis Ruben Amorim finds himself in.

With that in mind, here is the predicted starting XI from Geordie Boot Boys as Newcastle travel to Manchester United.
Tino Livramento comes back in for Kieran Trippier
Tino Livramento missed the win over Villa due to illness but Howe confirmed the £32million defender was hoping to return for the trip to Old Trafford.
While the Newcastle United manager has long talked up just how good the “technical” Kieran Trippier is, it would not be a huge surprise to see him drop out given Livramento now appears to be the starting right-back when available.
Matt Targett is fit again and operated at right-back towards the closing stages against Villa but it would be a huge shock to see that experiment continue from the off.
No other changes expected for Newcastle
Howe appears to have settled on a system now, with Sandro Tonali starring in a deeper midfield role.
There are no suspensions in play for the journey to Manchester, while all of Nick Pope, Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles and Callum Wilson remain injured.
There were suggestions Sven Botman may have been in the squad for the Villa game but that didn’t happen. With that in mind, perhaps there’s an outside chance he will feature among the substitutes.
Newcastle predicted XI vs Manchester United: Dubravka, Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
