Eddie Howe will soon have his full Newcastle Untied squad back, as the final international break of 2024 comes to an end.
While the rest of the Newcastle United squad have been training in Saudi Arabia, a lot of Toon players have been away representing their country.
12 senior Newcastle United players have been away on international duty, including the Magpies’ forgotten man Isaac Hayden. He made his debut for Jamaica, after switching his international allegiance.
Elsewhere, Isak was involved in VAR controversy on Tuesday night, while Bruno Guimaraes started Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Uruguay.
Eddie Howe’s big hitters played a lot of minutes, as Geordie Boot Boys looks at how long every Newcastle United player played for during the international break.
Newcastle United’s Nations League players

Alexander Isak
Alexander Isak played every possible minute for Sweden, playing 180 minutes in total as they beat Slovakia and Azerbaijan to come top of their Nations League group.
The 25-year-old scored one goal and provided one assist for his country, and won his 50th cap for Sweden on Tuesday night.
Sandro Tonali
Newcastle United’s midfield maestro from Milano played 180 minutes for Italy, as Luciano Spalletti continues to rely heavily on Sandro Tonali.
It was an international break to remember, with Tonali scoring his first ever Italy goal against Belgium. However, that was followed by a defeat to France.
Anthony Gordon
Anthony Gordon also enjoyed an international break to remember. Gordon scored his first England goal, starting both games.
The 23-year-old played 141 minutes in total.
Lewis Hall
Lewis Hall made his England debut during the 3-0 win over Greece, coming on at half-time. He then followed that with a solid 90 minute display against Ireland.
In total, Hall played 135 minutes for England.
Tino Livramento
Tino Livramento made his England debut against Ireland, playing the full 90 minutes at Wembley.
Martin Dubravka
Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka played 90 minutes during the international break. He was unable to stop Alexander Isak on Saturday night, before being suspended for Slovakia’s win over Estonia.
Odysseas Vlachodimos
Another Newcastle United goalkeeper was in action during the international break, with Odysseas Vlachodimos playing 180 minutes in total for Greece. He was harshly awarded an own goal during the defeat to England, after Jude Bellingham’s shot deflected off the post and onto him before finding the back of the net.
Two Newcastle United players in World Cup qualifying action
Bruno Guimaraes
Over in South America, Bruno Guimaraes started both Brazil games as they drew with Venezuela and Uruguay during their World Cup qualifying campaign.
The 27-year-old was substituted in both matches, playing 168 minutes in total.
Miguel Almiron
Miguel Almiron also started twice in South America, in what proved to be an excellent international break for Paraguay. They first beat Argentina, then drew 2-2 with Bolivia. The Newcastle attacker scored in that game, playing 176 minutes across both fixtures.
Newcastle’s remaining internationals
Lewis Miley
Lewis Miley represented England Under-21s during the international break. The 18-year-old played 79 minutes, as he continues to find his feet after recovering from injury.
Alex Murphy
20-year-old Newcastle defender Alex Murphy started twice for Republic of Ireland Under-21s over the past week. He played 162 minutes.
Isaac Hayden
While he is not part of the first-team setup at St James’ Park, Isaac Hayden is still a senior player at Newcastle United. He made his Jamaica debut during the international break, playing in both CONCACAF Nations League games against USA.
