Everyone in Newcastle is currently in dreamland after last night’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain, which saw superstar Kylian Mbappe come to St James’ Park and leave with his tail between his legs.

There was a lot of excitement and nervousness about the World Cup winner appearing in Newcastle in Europe’s elite competition, but the 24-year-old failed to make an impact as Eddie Howe’s side demolished the French Champions in what was a glorious night.

Mbappe’s reputation as one of the best players in the world means that he enjoys the glory when he wins, but has to take the brunt of the mocking when his side loses, and British bakery chain Greggs has now had their say.

There was a lot of focus on Mbappe throughout the game, and as Newcastle delivered a masterclass, his body language was particularly amusing, as he appeared stunned at how the game had panned out in a raucous atmosphere.

A Newcastle fan on Twitter even claimed that Mbappe could not perform to his best ability in Tyneside, as he was too busy thinking about a Greggs steak bake.

Greggs have now offered an invitation to the striker in the most brutal way possible, and the chain was even branded as “savage” for their message to the attacker, who became the first player to score a hattrick in a World Cup final since 1966 in December.

A lot of pre-match focus was on who should be tasked with stopping Mbappe down the wings. It therefore came as a surprise that he started behind striker Goncalo Ramos, in a move that completely backfired for Luis Enrique and PSG.

Mbappe clearly did not enjoy what was presumably his first trip to Newcastle, and having been linked with the club in the past, he has now gotten a true taste of the Geordie experience.

Should he take Greggs up on their offer, we’re sure there will be many a hungover Geordie ready to welcome him with a steak bake and a sausage roll to cheer him up.
