Big clubs have previously expressed an interest in Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon.

Gordon joined Newcastle for around £45million in 2023 and has since scored 25 goals in 113 games for the club.

It hasn’t always been an easy ride for the former Everton youngster on Tyneside. Gordon endured a difficult first few months at Newcastle before kicking on during the 2023/24 campaign.

Last season was difficult for him after Gordon almost joined Liverpool. Even earlier this summer, Gordon was linked with a move to Arsenal.

Gordon has a release clause in his Newcastle contract and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has responded when asked about his future at the club.

Anthony Gordon fully focused on Newcastle United

Romano revealed the latest in GIVEMESPORT’s newsletter

The noted transfer expert was asked whether Liverpool and Arsenal still retained an interest in the England international.

While Romano did admit there were many clubs who admired him, he insisted that there was nothing ongoing and Gordon was fully focused on Newcastle.

He wrote: “Many clubs admire Gordon but there’s nothing at all ongoing now, full focus on Newcastle. 100%.”

Anthony Gordon has already sent the message Newcastle United fans want to hear

Though the transfer speculation surrounding Gordon last summer never really reached the levels of the Alexander Isak saga this time around, it still cannot have been easy for him.

Gordon is a boyhood Liverpool fan and a move back to the city in which he was born would have appealed. To then see it collapse must have been a mentally draining process.

However, unlike Isak, Gordon showed up and got on with it. He wasn’t always brilliant but at least he put the work in.

Prior to this season starting, Gordon told The Daily Mail he was putting his Newcastle career ahead of everything else.

When asked about his World Cup aspirations he said: “All I care about is Newcastle. The way I got into the England squad was playing well for Newcastle. That’s the way I’ll get what I want from life.”

Gordon signed a long-term Newcastle contract extension in October 2024, although the exact details of it were never confirmed.
