There appears to be a price point at which Newcastle United would be powerless to stop Anthony Gordon from leaving the club.
Gordon is one of Newcastle United’s most high-profile players and now looks to be in a position to get back on track.
Indeed, Newcastle believe Gordon can get back to his best this season after a relatively complicated campaign last time out.
There have been promising signs from the England international, too. He bagged a brace against Union Saint-Gillose in the Champions League, having previously scored against Barcelona.
Hopefully, with Newcastle back on track, Gordon can kick on this season.
Still, news of a release clause is a slight concern.

Anthony Gordon has a release clause in Newcastle United contract
According to iNews, Gordon has a release clause in the contract he signed on Tyneside back in 2024.
At the time, it was described as a “long-term” new deal, although the exact length of time was not revealed.
The report in question suggests the release clause in Gordon’s contract is of a “similar” level to the one Bruno Guimaraes had in 2023.
Although the exact specifications of Gordon’s are unclear, Guimaraes was able to leave for £100million had the clause been triggered in June 2023.
How much Newcastle United think Anthony Gordon is worth
There’s little doubt that the former Everton youngster has stalled in his progress following the 2023-24 season.
Still, he remains one of the club’s most important players. An England international with much of his career ahead of him, it’s logical that he’d be of interest to other leading clubs.
During the summer transfer window, it was reported that Newcastle value Gordon at around £100million.
With that in mind, it seems reasonable to assume that the release clause in his deal is rather significant.
