Still, speaking after the win over Arsenal on Tuesday night, it was a perhaps less fashionable name on the lips of one Anthony Gordon.
Indeed, the winger in fact hailed teammate Dan Burn as Newcastle’s player of the season thus far.
Speaking on Friday ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Bromley, Howe appeared to agree.

Asked about his comments during his pre-match press conference, Howe said: “I didn’t know Anthony had said but I’m pleased he did because he’s not mentioning himself in that.
“So he’s passing the praise somewhere else, which I always think is a good thing and quite rightly to Dan because I think Dan has been very, very good this season.”
He added: “For me he’s been fundamentally vital to what we’ve done because he cares so much. He lives his life the right way and he’s a very, very good player.”

Burn struggled at times last season and would surely have been expected to drop out of the starting lineup at some point this season.
Sven Botman was always going to return as a left-sided central defender at some point, while the club went big on trying to sign Marc Guehi last summer – presumably as a long-term heir for Fabian Schar.
Still, Burn has shifted across from left-back to partner Schar for much of the season. More recently, he has impressed alongside the returning Botman.
Such has been the level of his form, Howe recently made a rather big claim himself.
