Eddie Howe publicly confirms Newcastle United latest after Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s demand to executives

Naturally, a lot of the focus at Newcastle United this summer will be on potential new signings.

Following a fallow period on the incoming front at Newcastle United, something appears to be changing.

Indeed, Newcastle insiders think they sign players this summer, no doubt providing a major boost for manager Eddie Howe. The Newcastle United manager has had to work with largely the same group of players for what feels like an age now, so the idea of having new talents with which to work is seriously exciting.

However, just as important as new arrivals this summer is the club keeping their best players. The likes of Alexander Isak are continually linked with a move away, although there has rarely been a suggestion that could genuinely happen.

Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan certainly doesn’t seem to think so. Al-Rumayyan has told Newcastle executives not to sell Isak this summer and recent comments from Howe further underline that.

Eddie Howe confirms Alexander Isak is not for sale at Newcastle United

Isak is Al-Rumayyan’s favourite Newcastle player and it’s easy to see why. The Sweden star has been a remarkable signing for the club, scoring 61 goals in 106 appearances since 2022.

Speaking on Friday, Howe confirmed that the striker simply was not for sale this summer, hopefully putting an end to all the speculation – albeit that admittedly feels fairly unlikely given the insatiable nature of the transfer rumour mill.

“He’s not for sale from my perspective,” he said.

“I want to build a squad and I want the strongest squad possible for next season. There is a lot to look forward to here, hopefully.”

Alexander Isak now compared to Cristiano Ronaldo

Newcastle paid £63million for Isak in 2022, which remains the most they’ve ever spent on a player.

However, that frankly now looks cheap. Newcastle value Isak at over £150million, having watched him develop into an even better player over the last few years.

Isak has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo by Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina, who suggested the Swede, the Portuguese great and Nigeria star Victor Osimhen are the best forwards he’s ever played against.

That is mightily big praise indeed but based on the last few seasons of Isak’s career, it feels about right.

Unplayable on his day, Newcastle have a superstar in Isak.
