Eddie Howe now wants to build his Newcastle United team around ‘frightening’ player

Eddie Howe has got some incredible players at Newcastle United right now, and there is one who he wants to build his team around.

The first that comes to mind is Bruno Guimaraes. He is Newcastle United’s talisman in the middle of the park, and is someone who Eddie Howe believes is world class.

Alternatively, the Toon team could be built around Anthony Gordon. He has been the Magpies’ best player this season, and was outstanding during Saturday’s 4-3 win over West Ham United – even if it did end with him being sent off.

Bruno and Gordon are both outstanding players who are pivotal to Newcastle’s success, but neither are the player who Eddie Howe wants to build his team around going forward.

Instead, that honour goes to the club’s most expensive signing ever.

Who Eddie Howe wants to build his Newcastle United team around

According to the Telegraph, Howe wants to build his Newcastle United team around Alexander Isak.

The report adds that the club will ignore any interest they receive for Isak this summer, with Arsenal being linked with a move for the 24-year-old.

It is understandable why a club like Arsenal would want Isak, and there will be fears that he could agitate to leave if Newcastle fail to qualify for Europe.

Isak recently spoke about his Newcastle United future, admitting that he was not paying any attention to rumours that he could leave in the coming months.

Alexander Isak is Newcastle’s most exciting player

While Bruno and Gordon are both incredible players, neither are as exciting to watch as Isak. The Sweden international is capable of the unthinkable – a complete centre-forward who can do it all.

Of course, his main job is to score goals. He is certainly doing that this season, taking his tally to 18 with a brace during the win over West Ham.

Isak is now two goals away from doubling his tally from his debut campaign, and will be very eager to hit the 20-goal milestone.

The most exciting thing about Isak is that he scores all types of goals. His ability in front of goal is, in the words of Kieran Trippier, ‘frightening‘. He can be a penalty box poacher, or he can score a goal like the one he got at Stamford Bridge earlier this year.

It is obvious why he is compared to Thierry Henry. The goals, the pace, the dribbling ability, the skill, the aura. Isak has got the lot, and Howe is right to build his Toon team around him.

Players like Isak are rare, and Newcastle United are lucky to have him.
