Eddie Howe sent a message to Newcastle United fans after losing out to Manchester United at Wembley two years ago.
Two years on from that defeat in the capital, Newcastle United have once again booked their spot at Wembley for the 2025 Carabao Cup final.
Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon scored in a 2-0 win over Arsenal at a fiery St James’ Park to give the Magpies a 4-0 victory across both legs.
Newcastle will discover their cup final opponents on Thursday afternoon when Tottenham travel to Liverpool for their second leg. Spurs lead 1-0 after the opening clash.
Newcastle will return to Wembley on Sunday, March 16th. Eddie Howe and much of this Newcastle squad will be desperate to learn from their 2023 final defeat and go one step further this time around.

What Eddie Howe said after losing 2023 Carabao Cup final
Newcastle came so excruciatingly close to ending their trophy drought two years ago, but fans were left deflated in London.
Howe demanded ‘answers’ after losing the final, with the Newcastle boss wasting no time before re-watching his side’s defeat to learn where they went wrong.
In his post-match comments, Howe also made a promise to fans that he would not rest until he got Newcastle back to where they belong.
He has certainly delivered on that promise.
“[Watching Manchester United lift the trophy] was a pain you have to take and a pain you have to use. We have to absorb everything we’ve experienced,” Howe said in 2023.
“It only fires me up even more to try and be successful and try to drive the team forward. I certainly won’t rest for a second in my pursuit to improve Newcastle.”
Jamie Reuben promised Wembley return to Newcastle fans
Reaching the final two years ago felt like a statement from Newcastle that they were back and ready to compete.
Ultimately, Newcastle fell just short of lifting silverware, but it reflected the progress made by the club since the 2021 PIF takeover.
After losing the cup final, co-owner Jamie Reuben sent a message to Newcastle fans thanking them for their support at Wembley.
He also told supporters not to doubt that this side would be back “stronger and better”. Now, they are.
“This is why we are the best club in the world – thank you. Don’t doubt we will be back – stronger and better,” Jamie Reuben posted on social media.
For all the staff, players and owners involved at Newcastle, all focus is now on lifting that trophy next month.
