Eddie Howe is going to be forced into a change when Newcastle United face Brighton And Hove Albion on October 19th.

Newcastle United fans are eagerly awaiting the return of domestic football, while Eddie Howe has been presented with a fresh injury problem during the international break.

However, the issue does not involve a player who is away representing his country. Instead, it is Kieran Trippier.

Kieran Trippier suffers injury

According to the Daily Mail, Kieran Trippier is going to miss Newcastle United’s game against Brighton with a hamstring injury.

The Daily Mail report that the 34-year-old is going to be absent for the next few weeks, although Newcastle are hopeful that it is not a serious injury.

This comes after Trippier had just won his place back in the Toon starting XI. The right-back had began the season on the bench, but has been in the Newcastle starting lineup for the previous three Premier League fixtures.

However, that run will come to an end when Brighton arrive at St James’ Park.

Who will replace Trippier when Newcastle face Brighton

There are no prizes for guessing who will take Trippier’s place in the starting lineup.

The Daily Mail report that Tino Livramento will be recalled to the side, after the 21-year-old lost his place to Trippier.

After being dropped, it will be interesting to see how Livramento responds on his return to the starting XI. He was brought to St James’ Park last year to provide cover for Trippier, but now he is competing with him.

Howe proved at the start of the season that he is willing to play Livramento ahead of Trippier, and that competition should motivate both players to do better.

Trippier won his place back from Livramento earlier this season, but now this injury gives the £32million defender the opportunity to prove that he should be first choice.

Newcastle have great depth at right-back. Kieran Trippier is a player who ‘makes a real difference’, while Tino Livramento is an ‘outstanding’ talent. Howe will be delighted that he has two top level players competing for one position, especially after the speculation surrounding Trippier’s future over the summer.

Tino Livramento is currently away with England

While Trippier is nursing a hamstring injury, Livramento is away with the England squad.

He was initially involved with the Under-21s, but Lee Carsley opted to call up Livramento to the senior England squad after some players pulled out through injury.

The Newcastle youngster was an unused substitute on Thursday night, as the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Greece.

Next up for England is Finland away on Sunday, where Livramento will hope to make his international debut.
