Newcastle United picked up a magical victory over Manchester United on Wednesday night, but there was at least one casualty coming out of the game at Old Trafford.
Matt Targett picked up a hamstring problem, and it looks like he is set for an extended spell on the sidelines. That is such a shame for the 28-year-old defender.
However, he was not the only injury concern coming out of the 3-0 win against Man United.
The club released a video after the win of the players returning to the dressing room to celebrate, but Bruno Guimaraes could be seen limping. He looked to be in a bit of pain and discomfort, which was cause for concern ahead of Saturday’s game against Arsenal.
Eddie Howe was asked about Bruno Guimaraes‘ fitness ahead of the clash with the Gunners, and was pretty defiant in his response.
Eddie Howe bats off Bruno Guimaraes question
Howe spoke to the media ahead of Newcastle vs Arsenal, and was asked if there is any reason to be concerned after Bruno limped off the pitch.
“No, I hope he’s fine,” he said.

Newcastle need Bruno fit and firing against Arsenal
It was a pretty defiant response from Howe, who barely gave the question any thought. He answered it with five words before moving on.
Hopefully Howe was not trying to deflect and Bruno really is fit and ready to go against Arsenal. We already have plenty of players out injured, and it would be a catastrophic blow to lose the Brazilian.
After the game against Man United, Bruno shared a picture of his boot on Instagram. It had been ripped open, seemingly after a challenge from an opponent. That would suggest it was just an impact injury that was forcing Bruno to grimace, which would surely be easier for him to shake off.
Assuming Bruno is fit, he will certainly return to the starting lineup against Arsenal. He was on the bench for the Carabao Cup contest, but did come on for the final 25 minutes to help the Magpies see the game out.
He will likely take Joe Willock’s place in midfield. While Willock played very well against Man United, he is still building up his match fitness after a long injury, and it would be a major surprise to see him start a Premier League game just yet.
