£40m Newcastle player limps into dressing room after Manchester United game, looks in real pain

Newcastle United went into their Carabao Cup clash against Manchester United with a lot of injuries, and may have picked up one or two more from their trip to Old Trafford.

Eddie Howe’s makeshift side put on a blistering display to win 3-0 and advance to the quarters, but there was one major casualty.

Matt Targett was forced off in the opening stages. Ironically, his departure actually led to the Magpies opening the scoring, as his replacement Miguel Almiron found the back of the net after a wonderful bit of play from Tino Livramento.

The loss of Targett appeared to be the only concern coming out of the game, until the club released a behind the scenes video of the Newcastle players returning to the dressing room.

Bruno Guimaraes limping after Newcastle beat Man United

As is tradition, the coaching staff and players were filmed as they headed back into the dressing room after full time. There were big cheers from Jason Tindall and Miggy Almiron, but there was no noise from the usually vibrant Bruno Guimaraes.

Instead, the £40million midfielder appeared to be in pain. Bruno could be seen grimacing with every step, as he limped past the camera.

The 25-year-old had only played the last 25 minutes, having come on for Joe Willock after he had made it 3-0 to the Magpies.

Bruno was brought on to see the game out, but appears to have hurt himself in a challenge.

He took to Instagram after the 3-0 win, and one of his photos explains why he was limping. The Brazil international showed a picture of his boot on his story, which managed to get a hole in it.

It looks like Bruno was stood on by a Man United player, with the challenge ripping his boot. That might explain why he appeared to be in so much pain.

Fingers crossed it is just an impact injury and Bruno has not sustained a serious problem, as Newcastle have two huge games coming up.

They face Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday before a Champions League trip to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. Newcastle need all their stars fit and firing for those games, most of all Bruno.
