Callum Wilson has now reacted to the recent news about one of his Newcastle United teammates this week.
Newcastle have been plagued with injuries so far this season and that has continued after Alexander Isak was forced off in the first half against Aston Villa.
First impressions suggest that the striker could miss up to four weeks and Wilson has now shared his disappointment with the news on The Footballer’s Football Podcast.
Wilson left frustrated with Newcastle’s latest injury news
You’d really struggle to remember the last time Newcastle had both of their strikers fit and available for a game like they did during the back end of last season when the team went on an incredible run.
Having Wilson to come off the bench for Isak for the final 30 minutes or vice versa was a huge part of the reason why Newcastle were so successful in their high pressing against different opposition.
With both of them suffering multiple spells out this season they haven’t really had that rotation option and it’s meant that one of them will have had to play a full 90, resulting in a lot of fatigue at the end of games.
Wilson knows how important this is for Newcastle and shared on his podcast just how difficult the team will find it to cope without the Swedish international in the coming games.
On the podcast, Wilson said: “I think Alex’s injury is disappointing for the team. It’s a big loss because he’s a big player. He can play down the middle or out wide and he gives us a different kind of threat to what I do.
“So as a manager you would want options and both players available. So it’s frustrating from his point of view and our point of view but it’s football and injuries happen.”

Newcastle to search for new attacker in the summer
It’s common knowledge by now that Newcastle have accepted that no significant business will be done in January with the club unwilling to offload players and unable to sign any new ones.
The summer, however, is a completely different story and it’s believed that they will be looking to bring in a new attacker in the next window with a number of targets already identified.
Dominic Solanke is one name who was mentioned earlier in the window though it’s unclear if they will reignite their interest in the 26-year-old in six months time.
Wilson is likely to be sold by Newcastle with just 18 months on his current deal, so there is a real need for someone to replace him in the very near future.
