There is no doubt that injuries have been seriously frustrating for Newcastle United this season.

While they and the subsequent fatigue relying on so few players causes can not be the only reasons blamed for Newcastle’s relative malaise this season, it is difficult to ignore.

As frustrating as it has been to watch Newcastle pull together a patched-up team for what has felt like most of the season, it’s also worth noting that this isn’t ideal for the players either.

Harvey Barnes has been denied the chance to establish himself following a move to the club last summer due to a freakish foot issue, while Joe Willock has opened up on how difficult this season has been for him after so many injuries.

Which is why reports emerging from Paraguay bring that further into light.

Miguel Almiron is now worried about the Copa America

According to Versus, Miguel Almiron is worried about his fitness ahead of the Copa America.

The forward came off against West Ham on Saturday and is thought to be facing the prospect of missing around a month of action. If everything goes to plan, that only gives him a month to back up to full speed.

The tournament begins in the United States on June 20, with Paraguay playing Colombia in Houston, Texas on June 24.

Miguel Almiron may be returning to play his last games for Newcastle

Should Almiron return in early May, he will only have games against Burnley, Brighton and Brentford to get himself fit and firing for this summer’s tournament.

In fact, they could even be his final few games as a Newcastle player given there are strong reports suggesting the Paraguay star will be leaving at the end of the season.

While he’s not totally perfect, he’s had great moments this season and was hailed as “different class” by pundit Ally McCoist, so it will be emotional potentially seeing him depart.
