David Seaman has admitted that he was concerned with the performance of one Newcastle United player against Tottenham on Sunday.
Despite being winless in their last five, Tottenham put four past Newcastle as they recorded a key victory in the race for the Champions League spots.
On his podcast Seaman Says, Seaman revealed how he was disappointed with Martin Dubravka’s performance on the night and is concerned with Newcastle’s future.
Seaman says Dubravka was at fault for two of Tottenham’s goals
With Nick Pope out injured for the foreseeable future, Dubravka was given a chance against Everton and Tottenham to prove that he still has what it takes to be Newcastle’s starting goalkeeper.
The Slovakian, however, has not covered himself in glory in these games after conceding seven across both Thursday and Sunday and being directly at fault for two of Tottenham’s goals.
Already 2-0 down, the £4m signing was caught in two minds when a brilliant long-ball was directed towards his box and the shot-stopper got his positioning horribly wrong leading to Richarlison netting his second of the game.
Dubravka also gave away a needless penalty towards the end of the game after colliding with Heung-Min Son which wrapped the game up for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Seaman was disappointed with what he saw from the Newcastle man against Tottenham, but acknowledged that they may just have to get use to it.
On his podcast, Seaman said: “They’re still missing Pope. It’s quite a few goals now in a couple of games and Dubravka wasn’t brilliant.
“He gave away the penalty needlessly, he was out of position for one of the goals where he though about coming for the cross.
“But that’s a number two goalie back you need your main goalie back and that’s not going to be happening for a while.”

Newcastle’s goalkeeping situation is worse than ever
As Seaman said, Dubravka’s performance against Tottenham was way below standard and if Newcastle have any hopes of qualifying for the Champions League again then he simply has to improve.
Newcastle are already believed to be considering alternative options in January if this form continues, and now they have another possible injury to contend with.
Dubravka is understood to have been carrying a hidden shoulder injury and if he were to also be out injured, it would effectively force Newcastle into signing a new goalkeeper.
