It has been a frustrating summer for West Ham United manager David Moyes, and he is not happy with one part of Newcastle United’s transfer business.
After the highs of winning the Europa Conference League, Moyes then had to deal with the disappointment of losing Declan Rice to Arsenal.
However, the £105million in the bank sweetened the deal, and at least gave West Ham the chance to get some new faces in and replace the 24-year-old.
One player who the Hammers had identified as someone they wanted to sign using the Rice money was Harvey Barnes – who is now at Newcastle. He joined the Magpies for £38million from Leicester City, and dazzled Toon fans by scoring two goals on his St James’ Park debut on Sunday.
There is a lot of excitement surrounding Barnes’ arrival, and he looks ready to hit the ground running in a black and white shirt – much to the frustration of Moyes.

David Moyes frustrated by Harvey Barnes joining Newcastle
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Moyes has been very frustrated at West Ham this summer due to their club’s failings in the transfer market. And one deal that he was notably unhappy to miss out on was Barnes.
“Moyes wants established Premier League talent, and to his frustration has already missed out on Harvey Barnes to Newcastle,” Jacobs wrote in his column for the Daily Briefing.
He wanted Barnes at West Ham
It is easy to understand why Moyes wanted Barnes at West Ham. He is a proven Premier League talent, having excelled at Leicester for years.

The 25-year-old was viewed as a low risk signing by multiple clubs, but it was Newcastle who got the deal done in the end.
Moyes missed out, despite the fact that West Ham were initially leading the race to sign Barnes. However, progress seemingly stalled when the Rice deal was delayed, which meant the money was not there to spend on the England international.
That gave Newcastle the chance to swoop in, which delighted Toon boss Eddie Howe.
