Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has congratulated West Ham United after they won the Europa Conference League on Wednesday night.
West Ham beat Fiorentina 2-1 in Prague to end their trophy drought, winning their first piece of silverware since the 1980 FA Cup.
The Hammers become the second team to ever win the Europa Conference League after Roma won the inaugural edition in 2022.
David Moyes’ side did it in dramatic fashion, with Jarrod Bowen scoring in the 90th minute to secure victory and send the Irons faithful wild. It was a lovely goal too, made possible by a glorious through ball from former Toon target Lucas Paqueta.
West Ham players, staff and fans celebrated long into the night, and they received a message of congratulations from Reuben.

Jamie Reuben’s message to West Ham after Europa Conference League win
The Toon co-owner took to Twitter immediately after West Ham’s Europa Conference League final win over Serie A side Fiorentina.
He wrote: “Fair play – congratulations @WestHam”
Newcastle fans will hope to enjoy similar celebrations in the future
A lot has been said about the Europa Conference League and its stature, but you saw exactly what it means last night. The West Ham fans went absolutely wild in Prague, and will never forget the night they won that trophy.
It is a huge achievement from the Hammers, and there is no way fans of other clubs should be mocking them because ‘it’s only the third most prestigious European trophy’.
A trophy is a trophy, and Toon fans would love to do what West Ham did on Wednesday night. While qualifying for the Champions League was incredible, merely getting into the ECL would have been enough at the start of the campaign.
Newcastle missed out on their chance to end their trophy drought back in February, when they lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester United.
That was heartbreaking, but our time will come – just like it did for West Ham. Congratulations!
