Darren Eales has started work as Newcastle United’s new CEO, and has set out his vision for the club.

He’s an exciting hire by the new owners, who now appear to have elite people leading every department.

Eddie Howe calls the shots on the pitch and has excelled so much that his contract has already been extended. Dan Ashworth is helping him off the pitch, and he will shape the blueprint of Newcastle United as a football club at every level.

Then we’ve got Eales, who will be in charge of the commercial side of things. He arrives with a great track record, working wonders at Atlanta United.

Now he’s back in England, and started his new role with the Magpies on Monday. It’s been a busy few days for the club, with Eales watching the thrilling 3-3 draw with Man City then the cup triumph over Tranmere. All the while, Ashworth has been negotiating a club record move for Alexander Isak.

It’s all go at St James’ Park, as the club continues to head in the right direction. And that will continue over the next few years.

Eales on Newcastle’s vision

The new CEO has sat down for an interview with NUFC TV. Eales discussed what he will bring to the club, and what his ambitions for Newcastle are.

“Coming in as CEO, I think my role is collaborating with the board, setting out the vision, the strategy,” he said.

“Our goal and vision for the club is we want to be a sustainable club, we want to be a world class club. We want to be doing that over the next five years.”

Exciting times for Newcastle

We are still a long way away from being a world class club. It was only last season we were embroiled in a relegation battle.

But that is the ambition of the new owners, and steps have been taken ever since they arrived towards that goal.

Their appointments have been spot on, and so has the recruitment. Fan engagement has also been brilliant, with a reenergised Toon Army cheering on the side endlessly.

Now Eales has arrived, and he will focus the club’s commercial vision. That in turn will lead to more potential success on the pitch.

Is it possible for Newcastle to become world class in the next five years? The early signs are very positive.
