Newcastle United could be given a huge boost this summer as one of their previous transfer targets could be put on the market.

Newcastle had been monitoring Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey back in January, but their Premier League rivals were always going to be unwilling to sell in the middle of a hugely important season for them.

However, a new report from GiveMeSport now suggests that because of their financial troubles, Villa could be effectively forced to place the 22-year-old on the transfer list in the next window.

Newcastle given boost in pursuit of £50m star

Eddie Howe is very keen to bolster his Newcastle squad this summer having been caught out with a lack of quality in depth this season with the group suffering an unexpected number of injuries.

The 46-year-old head coach certainly won’t want to endure a similar scenario next season, especially in the midfield, and it’s believed that the club identified Ramsey as a potential star for the future of their team.

Ramsey is not one of those players unwilling to throw himself in a tackle and give his all for the team, he’s someone who Howe would surely love to have in his Newcastle team.

The only downside would be that the £50m midfielder tends to play in more of an attacking role while Newcastle are searching for a more defensively minded player to sure up their defence for the new campaign.

The Magpies are hoping for a huge summer window

While Newcastle have been fairly successful in recent years, they will be hoping for a lot of changes in the summer if they are to see any real progression to get to the next level in the Premier League.

There are still a number of players at Newcastle on the fringes of the squad who will likely be moved on as well as players like Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron who are both in their 30s and could be sold to recoup some funds.

That will be especially true if Newcastle don’t have as much money to spend as they were hoping in order to make some bug additions to the team which is lacking some Champions League and trophy-winning experience.
