Newcastle’s chances of getting £50m player may be increasing ahead of the summer transfer window

Newcastle United’s summer transfer plans may have just been given a big boost after the recent news about one Premier League club.

Back in January it emerged that Newcastle were showing an interest in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, but the Birmingham-based club were never going to consider a mid-season sale.

However, with the latest news showing that Villa’s wage budget has surpassed Newcastle’s and they are in a tricky position financially, Ramsey could be a viable option for them to now sell.

Newcastle have a chance of signing £50m midfielder

In the most recent window it was believed that only a fee of £50m would be enough to pry Ramsey away from Villa, and especially to a Premier League rival who is direct competition for Europe.

Newcastle were never going to pay that in January anyway given their lack of funds, but the situation may be totally different for the two clubs heading into the summer window.

It has emerged today that after a season of big spending Villa have now overtaken Newcastle in terms of their wage bill and announced a total loss of £119.6m.

Should they want to bring in more players in the summer then someone is going to have to leave.

There’s no obvious choice for the Villans who are in with a good chance of finishing in the Champions League spots this season, but given Ramsey has only started half of the games he’s played in he may be an option for them to cash in on.

Ramsey is the type of player Eddie Howe loves

Since arriving as Newcastle manager in 2021, Eddie Howe can pride himself on the incredible work he’s done in improving players who were either already at the club or who he chose to bring in.

The best examples are Joelinton who went from being one of the worst strikers in the league to one of the best midfielders while Anthony Gordon is enjoying an unbelievable transformation under his guidance.

Ramsey, who is already a top player at just 22-years-old, could potentially be the next player for Howe to fit in his structure and help to grow into a Premier League star.

The young man has energy in abundance, something you need to play in this Newcastle team, is technically gifted and is not afraid to put his body about to win a tackle.
