Chris Sutton predicts what the score will be between Wolves and Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday

Newcastle United will be back in action on Sunday.

Eddie Howe’s side, somehow or another, are actually unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

Indeed, it is difficult to suggest with a straight face that Newcastle are actually playing well but, so far at least, it has not particularly mattered.

They’ve shown a huge amount of character, albeit they were fortunate to escape Bournemouth with a point following a controversial VAR call that denied the hosts a late winner.

Howe’s side had to battle through adversity to beat Southampton on the opening day after Fabian Schar’s dubious red card, while they weathered the storm to overcome Tottenham before the international break.

At some point, however, performances will need to improve. The Premier League is just too ruthless to afford a team too many lucky breaks.

With that in mind, Howe will be keen to see his team click into gear at Wolves on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, pundit Chris Sutton has delivered his prediction.

Writing in his BBC Sport column, Sutton predicted a 1-1 draw between the two sides.

“Newcastle are unbeaten in the Premier League so far but their performances have not been there and they have got away with it a little bit up until now,” he wrote.

“Wolves, in contrast, are yet to win. They made lots of mistakes when they got hammered 6-2 by Chelsea, but created plenty of chances themselves too.

“Is it going to click for Newcastle this time, or will Wolves get it together? You could make a case for both teams and, whoever wins, it would not surprise me.

“The safe bet would be a draw here, and you can guarantee that is the result the public will vote for above, but only spineless people would go for that…”

Interestingly, Newcastle have drawn on their last two visits to Molineux but have not won there since 2011.

Eddie Howe has some big decisions to make at Wolves

Howe may not be one to tinker with a winning team all too much. Still, Schar is available for selection again after suspension so may come back in, while Sandro Tonali impressed for Italy over the international break.

Sean Longstaff, however, has been backed to get the nod in the starting eleven after a decent start to the season. Kieran Trippier has also been tipped to make his first start despite so many links away from the club.
