Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson wants the club to bring in some new players this summer. His reason is that a team always needs to evolve and add quality to the ranks.
However, Wilson doesn’t think the Magpies just buy anyone and everyone. The Newcastle transfer targets should have the ability, but also the right character.
He told the ‘Footballer’s Football Podcast‘: “We need fresh faces coming in, you wanna add that quality you wanna keep evolving as a squad.
“Ultimately you don’t want to buy players just for the sake of buying players because you’ve got the money to.
“You might bring in bad characters, you know what it’s like? You can bring in a player who’s meant to be a world-beater and stuff like that. He gets in the dressing room and upsets it.”

Eddie Howe recruited well in January, Wilson and Newcastle will hope that continues this summer
Eddie Howe brought in some effective new recruits. Not just their performance on the pitch, but Ryan Fraser has said how the likes of Chris Wood are great lads too.
Newcastle will need to keep an eye on financial fair play in the summer window. But you’d think they can still afford to add quality to the side.
A number of names have been linked with the club. January target Hugo Ekitike is said to be close to joining this summer per 90min.com. Jesse Lingard is another who has emerged as another target according to the same report.
Also, the Magpies will be looking to offload a number of names too as well. There are currently quite a few players at the club and out on loan who likely won’t be part of Eddie Howe’s plans.

Howe has done wonders with the players he’s inherited and the new signings in January. If they spend well this summer they could be a force to reckon with.
It’s hard not to get excited with the number of Newcastle transfer targets being listed. But Howe will have the backing of some fans, seeing how well he’s done so far.
With a fully strengthened squad as Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier look to return soon, plus new signings. Next season could be very exciting for Newcastle United.
