Bruno Guimaraes has told Mehrdad Ghodoussi that he’s ready to start playing after seeing the Newcastle co-owner’s latest picture on Instagram.

The midfielder is still enjoying some time off ahead of returning for pre-season, with Newcastle’s Premier League campaign kicking off in less than six weeks.

The Magpies have been busy off the pitch, with new recruits being brought in. Matt Targett was the first to arrive, much to the delight of Bruno who called for the club to sign him permanently.

Next was Nick Pope from Burnley, and now Sven Botman is set to join from Lille.

It’s been an exciting start to the summer, and the Toon owners deserve credit for the business they have done so far – including Ghodoussi.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi shares picture of his new Newcastle shirt

The morning after the club announced a deal in principle for Botman, Ghodoussi has taken to Instagram.

But not to talk about Newcastle’s new signing – instead he’s showing off his new shirt. Amanda Staveley’s husband has posted a picture of his new Newcastle top, with ‘Ghodoussi 10’ printed on the back.

The shirt also includes the Noon logo, after the new sponsorship deal was unveiled on Monday. The Magpies are set to receive £7.5million-a-year from their new sleeve sponsors.

After the picture was uploaded, Bruno commented. He wrote: “You’re ready to play now.”

Ghodoussi then responded: “Make sure you set me up with some of your through balls.”

It’s good to see the players and owners engaging on social media. It certainly delights the fans who love seeing things like this.

Bruno has been a real hit since his move to St James’ Park, and it was a real statement signing by Ghodoussi and co. The pair shared a moment after the final home game of the season, posing for a selfie on the pitch after the 2-0 win over Arsenal.

The 24-year-old was excellent that game, like he has been pretty much every time he’s represented the club since his big money move from Lyon.

He has scored goals and dominated games, and looks like the complete midfielder. The through balls that Ghodoussi alludes to have been glorious, with Bruno boasting a wonderful passing range.

While it might be funny, luckily Ghodoussi won’t be getting on the end of Bruno’s passes next season. They will be aimed for Callum Wilson and the Magpies’ other attackers, which will hopefully include a new signing.
