Newcastle United announced a partnership on Monday evening, confirming Noon as the club’s new sleeve sponsor.

It had been reported that the club were in talks with the nation of Botswana about becoming a sleeve sponsor on the new Toon kits, but it appears Newcastle have gone elsewhere.

The Magpies have confirmed a deal with Middle Eastern online shopping website, whose yellow logo will appear on all Newcastle United shirts this season.

That includes the Saudi-inspired white and green third kit, which has received a lot of criticism. That kit has now been officially unveiled by the club, with the leaked jersey proving to be correct.

Newcastle set to receive financial boost from new sponsorship deal

According to Arab News, Newcastle will receive £7.5million-a-year from the deal with Noon, who also have a commercial agreement with Manchester City.

It’s a huge deal for the club, and eclipses the figure earned from the previous sleeve sponsor.

Last year’s kit had the Kayak logo on it, with the travel agency paying Newcastle £5million.

Newcastle will be receiving an additional £2.5million-a-year thanks to this new sponsorship agreement. It’s the club’s first since the change of ownership.

There was speculation that a new main sponsor would be emblazoned on the new kits for the 2022/23 season, but FUN88 remains for now. However, that partnership will reportedly end next summer, meaning Newcastle will be looking for a new shirt sponsor.

Newcastle will likely receive a decent fee from any new company given the price paid by the club’s new sleeve sponsor.

Noon linked to PIF

This is the first sponsorship deal that Newcastle will have needed to get approval from the Premier League for.

That ruling came into place after Premier League clubs feared the Magpies would sign hugely lucrative deals with Saudi-based companies as a way of getting round financial fair play.

Noon are actually involved with Newcastle’s owners, with PIF investing billions of pounds into the Amazon style company.

That will raise eyebrows from outsiders. However, as previously mentioned, it is a deal that will have required Premier League approval.

And it’s no different to the club previously being sponsored by Sports Direct. It’s also the same as Leicester’s association with King Power and Man City being sponsored by Etihad.

Newcastle aren’t the first club to do something like this, and they won’t be the last.
