Bruno Guimaraes shares new Instagram message after suffering ankle injury

Bruno Guimaraes has delivered a message to Newcastle United supporters following the latest update on his ankle injury.

The midfielder was forced off at half time against Fulham on Sunday, and was reduced to tears as the referee drew the opening 45 minutes to a close.

He picked up the injury midway through the first half, going over on his ankle as he looked to win back possession on the edge of the Fulham box. It was a nasty twist, and his reaction had Toon fans fearing the worst.

Bruno is now set for a spell on the sidelines. However, it will not be a lengthy absence, much to the delight of everyone associated with the club.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday evening that the 25-year-old will only be out of action for weeks rather than months. Then Sky Sports added that there is a chance Bruno could be back for next week’s Carabao Cup semi final with Southampton.

That would be perfect for Howe, who will want to put out as strong a team as possible for the Magpies’ biggest game of the season.

Following news that the injury is not as bad as first feared, Bruno has taken to his official Instagram account.

He posted a picture of himself from Sunday’s game, alongside the caption: “Faith moves mountains! I’ll be ready faster than ever.”

The post received replies from two of his Toon teammates, with Joe Willock and Allan Saint-Maximin both posting love heart emojis in response.

Bruno has vowed to return as quickly as possible, and his post is a lot more positive than his previous one about the injury. Immediately after the game on Sunday, he admitted that he was ‘very sad‘ and hoped that the injury was not serious.

Fortunately, that has proven to be the case and Newcastle will not be without their star man for long. That is great news, especially with the cup semi final on the horizon.

But first up is Crystal Palace on Saturday evening, where Howe will probably forced to make at least one change to his starting lineup.

Given a lack of options in centre-midfield, the Toon boss will likely move Joelinton back inside, creating an opening for someone to play on the left of attack. It will be up to Howe to decide whether he should go with Saint-Maximin, Alexander Isak or Jacob Murphy.
