Newcastle United welcome Paris Saint-Germain to St James’ Park on Wednesday night, as Champions League football returns to Tyneside.

It will be the Magpies’ first Champions League game at home since March 2003, back when Sir Bobby Robson’s side were beaten 2-0 by Barcelona.

Now it is Eddie Howe leading Newcastle, and his side will be full of confidence after a return to form. The Magpies have done very well since the international break, and have not conceded a single goal since they were beaten 3-1 by Brighton in September.

That includes a clean sheet in the San Siro against AC Milan, where Newcastle had to rely heavily on Nick Pope.

The 31-year-old will probably be busy once again on Wednesday night, as Newcastle look to keep the likes of Kylian Mbappe at bay.

That is going to be extremely difficult, but Toon talisman Bruno Guimaraes has hope that the Magpies can defy the odds and pick up a victory at PSG‘s expense.

Bruno Guimaraes predicts Newcastle will win against PSG

As part of an interview with GQ, Bruno has made a prediction for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain. Unsurprisingly, the Brazilian has backed himself and his Toon teammates to pick up three points.

“By one goal difference – 1-0 or 2-1,” he said.

“I am hopeful.”

That would be a perfect Champions League night for Newcastle

Whether it’s 1-0, 2-1, 4-0, or 8-7, any kind of win against PSG on Wednesday night would be absolutely tremendous.

Beating the Ligue 1 champions would be the perfect return to European nights on Tyneside. For a lot of Toon fans, European football is a distant memory. For others, it is not something they have ever experienced.

That is why being in the Champions League is so special, and it is great to see us getting the chance to test ourselves against Europe’s elite.

That is what PSG are, and Luis Enrique has made it very clear that his side will go all out and attack when they arrive at St James’ Park.

But they are going to be hit by a raucous atmosphere, and one that will hopefully force them to freeze underneath the bright SJP lights.

Winning would be incredible, and Bruno believes we can do it! Although he is hardly ever going to tip his own team to lose, is he?!
