Bruno Guimaraes has been one of Newcastle United’s best players this season, but he has now heaped praise on one of his Toon teammates.

The 26-year-old is currently one of nine Newcastle United players who are away on international duty right now, with Brazil set to face England at Wembley on Saturday night.

It will be just the second ever time that Bruno Guimaraes has played at Wembley, and it could see him come face-to-face with one of his Newcastle United pals.

That is because Anthony Gordon is in the England squad, with the 23-year-old deservedly receiving a call up from Gareth Southgate last week. The Toon winger is ecstatic to be in the Three Lions squad, and is particularly looking forward to potentially facing Bruno on Saturday night.

The feeling is mutual, and the Brazilian midfielder is full of praise for Gordon ahead of their meeting this weekend.

Bruno Guimaraes says Anthony Gordon has been ‘amazing’ for Newcastle

Ahead of England vs Brazil, Bruno has been speaking to the media. He was asked on Sky Sports News to discuss how good Gordon is amid the incredible season he is having.

“He has been amazing,” he said.

“He’s so quick. When we get the ball to him, we know he will do something special. No one at the club deserves to be in the England squad more than him. He has been unbelievable for us. Always scoring, giving assists. He’s such a lovely guy too.

“I’m very happy for him and I hope he can get some minutes in the England squad. For me, to play against him would be massive for both, and for the club as well.”

‘Unbelievable’ Anthony Gordon is having his best season ever

As Bruno says, Gordon really has been amazing for Newcastle United this season. He has been a reliable source of goals and assists, and is enjoying the best campaign of his career.

Gordon has scored 10 times in all competitions, with nine of his goals coming in the Premier League. He also has seven assists, although two of them came from winning penalties.

In total, Gordon has got 17 goal contributions. It is an incredible tally, and more than he managed during his entire Everton career (15).

The winger has taken his game to a whole new level, and it has resulted in him winning his first ever England call up. Gordon has worked incredibly hard this season, and the improvements he has shown under Eddie Howe have earned him international recognition.

Next on the agenda will be an England debut, which could come on Saturday against Brazil and Bruno.
