Newcastle United’s management duo are often in the headlines.
Eddie Howe has consistently been praised for turning Newcastle around since replacing Steve Bruce in November 2021, while his assistant manager in Jason Tindall is hardly much of a stranger to the spotlight.
Indeed, Tindall became something of an internet celebrity last season for his supposed desire for attention.
A striking figure on the touchline, he’s also been known to rile opposition coaches.
Serenaded by Newcastle fans following the win over Fulham on Saturday, BBC Sport pundit Glenn Murray noticed something interesting during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea.
Jason Tindall: What Newcastle assistant manager was doing during Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, Murray said (at 20:36 GMT on 19/12/2023): “Looking at both benches, Mauricio Pochettino has been stood on the sideline all match and I have not seen Eddie Howe at all.
“Jason Tindall is doing most of the shouting.”

Newcastle news: Howe and Tindall have work to do
It’s always fascinating to hear what goes on across the touchline, particularly with Newcastle having such a prominent assistant in Tindall.
Still, no matter who has doing the shouting, both Howe and Tindall have work to do.
Newcastle now have only the FA Cup to play for in terms of realistic silverware and that campaign starts away at Sunderland. Though the Magpies will be expected to win that, their away form has been turgid all season, with only one of their Premier League wins coming on the road thus far.
With injuries piling up too (Anthony Gordon was forced off against Chelsea) even despite there appearing to be some light at the end of the tunnel recently following the returns of Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn and Sven Botman, turning things around will not be easy.
They have both more than earned the trust of supporters but there’s work to be done.
