Newcastle United are looking to agree a new contract for Alexander Isak, and he is not the only Toon player who could soon receive a new deal.
While there has been talk of Alexander Isak leaving St James’ Park this summer, the club’s main priority has been handing him an improved contract. They want to give him a pay rise, and the belief is that the 24-year-old could soon be Newcastle United’s best paid player.
That will help keep him at St James’ Park, as Eddie Howe aims to keep his best players on Tyneside.
Newcastle now aiming to keep Anthony Gordon away from Liverpool
Another one of those players is Anthony Gordon, who Newcastle shockingly considered selling to solve their PSR concern.
It was reported that the 23-year-old was offered to Liverpool, but a deal with the Reds was not agreed due to Newcastle’s financial demands. However, there have been suggestions that the prospect of moving to Anfield has turned Gordon’s head.

That is worrying to hear, although it has been reported that Gordon is expected to continue as a Newcastle United player for the 2024/25 season.
That is more positive, and the situation involving the winger will look a lot brighter if he puts pen to paper over a new Newcastle contract.
Newcastle United want Anthony Gordon to sign a new contract
And, according to TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, that is what the Magpies are hoping Gordon will do.
Crook spoke on TalkSPORT on Tuesday afternoon (12:13pm) about Gordon’s future, and provided details about a possible contract extension.
“My latest information is that Newcastle United are keen to get Anthony Gordon to sign a new contract,” he said.
“I think he has got two years left on his current deal.”
New deal will allow Newcastle to show Gordon how much they value him
Gordon’s current Toon contract is due to expire in 2026. He has two years left to run on the initial deal that he signed in January 2023 when he arrived from Everton for £40million.
And with speculation that Newcastle want to show him some love when he returns from the Euros following the Liverpool debacle, the best way to probably do that is by offering him a new contract that outlines exactly how important he is.
It is vital that Newcastle retain Gordon, and any new contract should reflect the fact that he is one of Eddie Howe’s most reliable and influential players. He is up there with the likes of Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, and his contract should suggest as much.
In an ideal world, Newcastle can get a new contract for Gordon sorted out as soon as possible, as that would immediately shut down any noise of a move to Liverpool.
