Anthony Gordon stunned Newcastle United fans on Saturday evening at 4:30pm ahead of the Magpies’ game against Nottingham Forest.
Eddie Howe had stated that the 22-year-old had not trained all week and would not be involved at the City Ground, having sustained an ankle injury in the 4-4 draw with Luton Town.
Anthony Gordon left St James’ Park on crutches that day, but suggestions in the week stated that the injury was not as bad as first feared.
Turns out that really was the case, as Gordon was actually deemed fit enough to start against Nottingham Forest as Newcastle went on to win 3-2 and move up to seventh in the Premier League.
It was a real shock to see the winger involved, and he has now delivered a message to Toon supporters.

Anthony Gordon delighted to win on his 50th Newcastle appearance
Gordon has taken to his official Instagram account to send a message to supporters about the win over Nottingham Forest. Not only did Newcastle get a valuable three points but it was also his 50th appearance for the club.
He wrote: “+3 & my 50th appearance for this amazing club. Looking forward to many more.”
Many more milestones to come for Newcastle star
It was fantastic to see him involved, and Gordon showed no signs of the injury that he had sustained just a week earlier.
And it was a solid performance from the former Everton star, although the night belonged to Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian was Newcastle’s hero, hogging the headlines with his brace.
But it was a landmark night Gordon, who has now made 50 appearances for the Magpies after joining the club a year ago. He has already played so much football for Newcastle United, and is idolised by the Toon Army.
It has been an incredible first year on Tyneside. A slow start has led to him becoming one of Newcastle’s most important and exciting players, and it is going to be brilliant to see what the next 50 games bring…and the 50 after that! There will be plenty more milestones in black and white for Anthony Gordon, and this is only just the beginning.
