Allan Saint-Maximin has admitted that he is happy at Newcastle United as he looks towards a brighter future at St James’ Park.

The 25-year-old has been a fan favourite ever since his £16million move from Nice in 2019. He was the club’s talisman during the Steve Bruce era – often the only player capable of creating something magic.

Saint-Maximin was pivotal to Bruce’s plan, but his vision eventually crumbled when he was relieved of his duties by the new owners last year.

Now the future is looking more promising for the Magpies. Eddie Howe has came in and made a huge difference, and has guided the club to third in the Premier League after 15 games.

It has been a real team effort, with Saint-Maximin often watching on from the sidelines. His season has been hindered by a hamstring injury, but he is now fit and ready for the second half of the season.

He will hope to impress on Thursday night against Al-Hilal, and ahead of the game Saint-Maximin has spoke out on how he feels about playing for Newcastle right now.

Saint-Maximin on his future

The winger has spoke to the Chronicle during the trip to Saudia Arabia, and expressed how he feels about the club and their newfound ambition.

“It’s very nice, it’s like finding your first house,” he said.

“It’s when you have found a very nice house and you know what you are going to build. You start to see the potential there and you are like ‘wow – this is huge’. That is a great example because I really feel at home here.

“This is a different place now. There are a lot of beautiful houses in the world now but there are some houses where you put your feet and think ‘here is my home’.

“It’s the feeling I have in Newcastle. I am very proud because sometimes when you start and everything isn’t perfect, when you work very hard you start to see everything change. Especially when you have the choice to go to another club. You just say no I will believe until the end at this club.

“I want to give back the love they give me. You think it’s great – anything can happen now, and I will always be a Newcastle fan, I love the club so much.”

The future is bright for ASM and Newcastle

It is always nice to hear Saint-Maximin speak so glowingly about his love for the club. He has always been adored by fans, with his style of play massively endearing supporters.

Now Newcastle have more stars and Saint-Maximin is no longer alone. He used to look like the only superstar, and now he shares a dressing room with Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.

The future is bright for Newcastle, and it sounds like Saint-Maximin wants to be a part of that. That is especially encouraging given a strange rumour that recently emerged involving the Magpies’ number 10.

A report in Italy claimed that Newcastle could try to sign Moise Kean from Juventus, with Saint-Maximin going the other way. It sounded like absolute nonsense, and is one of many ludicrous claims involving those two clubs as of late.

But with Saint-Maximin keen to ‘give back’ to the fans and continue improving his ‘home’, it sounds like he wants to stay put. That will delight fans, who are eager to see ASM back to his best as soon as possible.
