Report: Newcastle now entertaining swap deal for ‘fearless’ attacker, could see Saint-Maximin leave

Newcastle United are entertaining the idea of swapping winger Allan Saint-Maximin for soon-to-be Juventus striker Moise Kean, in a player plus cash deal.

That’s according to Juve Dipendenza, who report the Magpies are interested in signing the 22-year-old. The Italian remains an Everton player, having spent the season on loan in Turin. However, the Serie A giants have an obligation to buy in the summer, which is set at £24m.

As per Juve Dipendenza’s report, the Tyneside club have been named as a potential suitor, with the striker receiving wider recognition in recent months.

Juventus are said to be ‘increasingly willing to be able to find a meeting point’ with Eddie Howe’s side.

They then suggest the Italians could ask for Saint-Maximin in return, in which the player would welcome the move.

Kean who would also be willing to make the switch, as he pursues regular first-team minutes.

Therefore, the Turin outfit could make an approach for the Toon winger, with the overall deal requiring Kean and a cash sum to allow the Frenchman to leave.

However, the report states there have been ‘only initial skirmishes’ involving this prospect, as they contemplate such a deal.

Newcastle interested in Kean

Although he has made 13 Serie A appearances for Massimiliano Allegri’s side this term, only six of these cameos have come from the starting XI.

Despite this, the 22-year-old has scored four league goals, on top of another brace in the Champions League against Benfica.

At such a young age, Kean has already had an outrageous career. Having emerged at Juventus as a European star, Everton swooped in him for back in 2019.

However, an underwhelming tenure with the Toffees saw the striker get sent out on loan. Miraculously, this was to Paris Saint-Germain, where he started to find his form again.

In 41 appearances for the French giants, Kean bagged 17 goals. Consequently, he was hailed as ‘fearless’ by former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel.

Upon returning to Merseyside, Juventus came back in for him with a loan move.

After a slow start, the Italian has now started to show everyone what he can do as a player.

As a youngster, Kean’s potential is huge. With a keen eye for goal, the attacker’s dominant physicality means he is strong in the air. Furthermore, he is blessed with pace, often getting in behind the defence and through on goal.

With Newcastle looking to add quality additions to their squad, youngsters like Kean, who have huge promise, would certainly be on Howe’s radar.

However, the idea of Saint-Maximin leaving does seem to be an unrealistic possibility at this stage.
