Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has looked unstoppable at times this season.
The Swede has scored 25 goals during the 2024/25 campaign, with 21 of them coming in the Premier League.
Newcastle United may not be in the position they are without Alexander Isak, the 25-year-old has been a big difference maker to the side with his goal contributions. No other Newcastle player is near equalling his tally for the season.
While he has been fantastic for a large portion of the season, his performance levels seem to have dropped as of late. Isak has scored in just one of his last four games and has looked off the pace at times. This was evident in Newcastle’s defeat to Aston Villa, where he managed just one shot at goal before being taken off.
However, the Swede has a big chance to make up for his woes in Newcastle’s next game as they take on Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town at St James’ Park.
After being told to forget about the loss to Villa, Isak has shared what his teammates have been bugging him about in recent weeks.

Alexander Isak opens up on current form with Newcastle United
Isak made history for Newcastle by becoming the first player in the club’s history to score 20 goals in consecutive Premier League seasons. Alan Shearer was shocked to hear Isak’s statistic, admitting he could not believe it when it was first read out.
Since setting that record, Isak has only been able to add one more goal to his tally in the league.
While he would not like to be reminded of his struggles in front of goal, his Newcastle teammates have made sure that is not the case.
The striker scored Newcastle’s fifth goal in their magnificent win against Crystal Palace, but he had many other chances to score before then. Ironically, he scored his most difficult chance of the game in comparison to the other opportunities he had.
Speaking to beIN Sport, Isak was asked about his goal against Palace.
“Yeah, it was definitely the hardest one of the night,” Isak said with a grin.
The reporter then asked if he had been getting ‘stick’ from his teammates.
Isak responded with: “Yeah, I’ve heard that many times. I try to stay relaxed, I try to stay calm and focused. It works in my favour, I think.”
Alexander Isak discusses Newcastle United’s Champions League hopes
Despite losing last Saturday, Newcastle could be just a couple of wins away from qualifying for the Champions League.
Pundits have backed Newcastle to finish in the top five this season, but it is a much harder task now that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City are within two points of them.
Isak wants Champions League football with Newcastle, it is a condition that has reportedly been set by the Swede before agreeing to a new deal with the club.
During the same interview with beIN, Isak was asked whether he thinks Newcastle are on course to make the Champions League.
“Yeah, I think we are, but that’s not really the way we see it. I think where the mentality is that we’re chasing Champions League.
“I think it goes quick, we’ve climbed the table in a short space of time, so we know that we’ve got to keep performing or other teams will come and chase you down. So we’ve got all our focus on keeping the level.”
