Alexander Isak found himself on the scoresheet again for Newcastle United in their win against Brentford on Wednesday night.
By no means was it easy, but the Magpies took all three points at St James’ Park thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and a spectacular finish from Sandro Tonali.
Newcastle United fans will surely be wishing that it was Bryan Mbeumo scoring for them rather than the Bees after he converted a second-half penalty in front of the Gallowgate End. The spot-kick meant very little in the end after Tonali’s goal.
Newcastle’s 2-1 win against Brentford is a significant one regarding Champions League qualification this season. Eddie Howe’s side will definitely be playing in Europe thanks to their Carabao Cup win, but are aiming for much more than the Europa Conference League.
Harvey Barnes said Newcastle are aiming for the Champions League this season, they are still in pole position to achieve that by keeping the pressure on Manchester City above them.
Isak has already broken a Newcastle record this season by becoming the first Toon star to score in eight consecutive Premier League games, but now the Swede has made history with his most recent goal on Wednesday night.

Alexander Isak sets a new record at Newcastle United
The 25-year-old has been unstoppable at times this season, scoring goals from any distance at a rate of knots.
Isak’s goal against Brentford puts him up to 24 goals in all competitions this season, including 20 in the top flight. However, his goal on Wednesday is a much more significant one.
Newcastle’s star striker has now become the first player to score 20 goals in consecutive seasons for the Magpies, a feat that even Newcastle legend Alan Shearer can match.
Furthermore, Isak has now entered double figures for goals both home and away in the Premier League this season, becoming one of just three other players to do that for Newcastle.
Unsurprisingly, the other two players are Andy Cole and Shearer.
The goal also puts Isak one away from equalling his total tally from last season, with nine games to go and within six of beating Shearer’s best-ever goalscoring season for Newcastle.

Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United performance by numbers
It was a performance that Newcastle fans have come to expect from Isak, among the goals, but left feeling like he could have had more.
There will be some concern amongst the fanbase, however, after Isak went off with a potential injury shortly after Brentford’s equaliser. The Swede has struggled with injury this season but fans will hope that it is nothing serious.
Despite having 66 touches, Isak was still able to leave a mark on the game in fine fashion.
As well as the goal, Isak completed all of his dribbles (4/4), completed 13 passes, won six of his 12 duels and even managed to make three defensive actions, including a clearance and an interception.
Newcastle face Leicester next. Isak will surely be licking his lips at the prospect of more goals in the Premier League.
