Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has taken his first interview since leaving Newcastle United on a British record fee on deadline day.
From the final whistle on the last game of the Premier League season at St James’ Park, speculation around the future of Alexander Isak was a hot topic.
Newcastle United had made it clear that Isak was not for sale. Head coach Eddie Howe even publicly stated that he did not want to see his star striker leave after the Magpies secured Champions League qualification for the 2025/26 campaign.
However, Isak shocked the entire fanbase when reports surfaced stating that he wanted to leave Newcastle during the summer transfer window. Isak’s transfer saga lasted the entire summer, with many predicting whether he would make a big-money move to Liverpool before the window closed.
In the end, Isak completed a British record move to Liverpool, with Newcastle pocketing around £125m. Now, Isak has finally publicly commented on the transfer story of the summer.

Alexander Isak says ‘not everyone has the whole picture’ about Newcastle United exit
In August, Isak released a statement claiming promises were broken by Newcastle and that he could no longer trust those within the club.
Newcastle released a statement in response, stating that certain criteria had to be met before sanctioning Isak’s sale. The 25-year-old got the move he was so eager to get, but it came at the price of losing the trust of an entire fanbase, one that would have considered him a legend in years down the line.
Now, Isak has commented on the switch for the first time in an interview with Sportbladet following Sweden’s 2-0 defeat to Kosovo.
“It’s nice that things were sorted out before the meeting and that I could focus on playing football again,” he said.
“It has been a fairly new situation for me, but you always learn and develop mentally off the field as well.
“It’s a bit like it is. It’s clear that not everyone has the whole picture, but that’s something for another day. Right now, the disappointment lies in this match and how it went. But at the same time, I have a positive feeling about the club team part that is coming.”

Alexander Isak wants to move on after leaving Newcastle United for Liverpool
Isak shared an emotional message to Newcastle fans after completing his Liverpool move, though he forgot to apologise for everything that occurred throughout the summer.
Despite that, several Newcastle players wished Isak well after joining Liverpool. Both sides have benefited from the deal, with Newcastle doubling their money, and Isak getting a bumper new contract at a new club and an even greater opportunity to win trophies.
With the deal done, Isak now just wants to move on from everything and focus on life at his new club.
“That’s part of football,” he added in the same interview.
“I can’t control everything that’s said or written. But I’m happy that I became a Liverpool player. That’s what I wanted and I’m happy about that, he says.
“There is a lot to discuss and a lot to discuss for a long time. It has been educational and I am happy with the final result. I am happy and proud to be a Liverpool player.
“As I said, I don’t want to go into or talk about that situation too much. It’s a closed chapter but I’ve never had any problems.”
