Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has received his first ever England call-up.
Thomas Tuchel has announced his first squad as England manager, with Dan Burn a surprise inclusion.
It is the first time that the 32-year-old has ever been selected to represent his country, with Tuchel choosing Burn because of his versatility.
It is exactly what Burn deserves for a sensational season in black and white. Burn has been one of Newcastle’s best players, and now he gets set to test himself on the international stage.
It is a remarkable achievement for a player who has established himself as one of Eddie Howe’s best Newcastle signings since his £13million arrival from Brighton.

Alan Shearer reacts as Dan Burn is named in the England squad
The Toon Army are delighted for Burn, who will be in the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
The giant defender from Blyth will hope to make his Three Lions debut, and Toon legend Alan Shearer believes the call-up is richly deserved.
Following the news, the Newcastle United social media team put out a message of congratulations for Burn.
They wrote: “BIG DAN BURN. He’s been included in the @England squad for the very first time! Massive congratulations, Dan – so well deserved.”
The post received a response from Shearer, who replied: “Absolutely. Congrats Big Man.”
The other Newcastle United players in the England squad
It is incredible to see Burn receive a call-up, but he is not the only Newcastle United player selected by Tuchel.
There are three Toon players in Tuchel’s first ever squad, with Burn joined by Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon.
There is no Lewis Hall, who probably would have been involved had it not been for his season-ending injury.
It is actually quite a polarising squad from Tuchel, who has recalled Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford. The former is certainly a surprise inclusion, and will probably hog the headlines away from Burn.
But that will not matter. It will mean the world to Burn, who has been handed a major confidence boost ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
This could be the start of a remarkable few days for Burn, who has the chance to help end Newcastle’s trophy drought on Sunday.
