Alan Shearer has very high hopes for one Newcastle United player this season.

The new Premier League campaign is upon us, with Newcastle facing Aston Villa in their first game on Saturday. It is a tough start for Eddie Howe, who will be without Alexander Isak.

Shearer thinks Newcastle will be fifth or sixth this season, which would represent another strong year for Howe.

It has been a chaotic summer, but Newcastle have started to do some very strong business. The Newcastle United squad is beginning to look much healthier, and Shearer has tipped Tino Livramento to enjoy a stellar campaign.

Alan Shearer has very high hopes for Tino Livramento this season

Various pundits have been giving their predictions for the new season on the official Premier League website, including Shearer.

He was asked to predict who will be the Premier League’s best young player, and he gave his nomination to Livramento.

The 22-year-old comes into the new season on the back of winning the European Under-21 Championship, where he was one of the Three Lions’ best players.

It should be another very strong season for Livramento, who was attracting transfer interest from Manchester City earlier in the summer. However, Newcastle are not selling Livramento.

Other nominations include Arsenal’s Max Dowman and Myles Lewis-Skelly, with Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Florian Wirtz also suggested.

Alan Shearer snubs Alexander Isak

Shearer was also asked to pick out who will be the Premier League’s top scorer.

Pundits such as Tim Sherwood, Glenn Murray and Rob Green all backed Alexander Isak to score the most goals, despite uncertainty on whether he will be playing for Newcastle United or Liverpool.

When it came to Shearer’s prediction, the Newcastle United legend snubbed Isak. Instead, he nominated Mohamed Salah to win the Premier League Golden Boot for a second season in a row.

As it stands, it is unclear when Isak will start scoring goals. Isak is refusing to play for Newcastle, with the 25-year-old keen to sign for Liverpool.

However, that will only happen if Newcastle buy a replacement. That is proving to be difficult, with Isak likely to stay at Newcastle. If that does happen, he will need to be reintegrated into the squad before he can begin to find the net again.
