Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has given his verdict on how the Magpies will do against Everton on Saturday.
Eddie Howe‘s players will be desperate to build on last weekend’s performance, as Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Manchester City.
Alan Shearer predicted a draw, and he was spot on. Newcastle deservedly won a point against the Premier League champions, with Howe’s side looking like their old selves.
After criticising their performance against Fulham, Shearer was much happier with what he saw from Newcastle against Manchester City. The energy and the pressing was back, and the goal will now be to deliver that type of display on a consistent basis.
Alan Shearer gives his prediction for Everton vs Newcastle
Newcastle need to prove that the Man City performance was not a fluke, starting at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.
It is not a ground that Newcastle have traditionally done well at, but Shearer has told the Metro that he thinks the Magpies can pick up a win from what looks set to be their final visit to Goodison Park.

“Everton got a huge result last time out at home,” he wrote.
“They showed great character after going 1-0 down and McNeil got a couple of goals, but I thought Newcastle produced their best performance of the season against Man City. They looked much more like they have done over the last couple of years, and I’d be looking for them to carry that on here.
“I’m going to go for an away win.”
Newcastle handed Fabian Schar boost ahead of Everton
Shearer thinks Newcastle will beat Everton on Saturday evening, and the Magpies have received a boost ahead of their trip to Merseyside.
While Newcastle will be without Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson due to injury, Fabian Schar will be available to start in defence.
He was substituted late on during the Carabao Cup win over Wimbledon, with Eddie Howe stating that Schar had a couple of injury concerns.
However, the Newcastle United manager has now confirmed that the 32-year-old is good to go this weekend.
On injuries, Howe said: “Alex Isak will not make the game. We hope he will be back with Callum Wilson for the game after the international break. Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar should be OK. Martin Dubravka took a nasty whack to the knee but it won’t be serious.”
As Howe says, Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope should also be involved after missing the 1-0 win over Wimbledon.
Trippier and Pope have been spotted in training, and Howe has now confirmed that they are set to be available for selection to face Everton.
